Hello hello! We start our August programming with a face we look forward to seeing at Spatial Awareness week after week since we met in the lounge around the time we started a little over a year ago. Now It is unquestionable that Eva J is in the DNA of our cozy little Thursday nights. With an intimate understanding of the room, the night, and the sound - we are so so SO excited to welcome a 3 hour sonic fairy tale from someone who feels the pulse of Spatial more than most. This is a year in the making, friends. Don’t sleep on this one. Trust us.
Eva J has been quietly orbiting the Philadelphia music scene since the late '90s, drawn less to the spotlight than to the spaces where sound creates connection. Years spent digging, collecting, and cultivating a deeply personal music library eventually led her behind the decks, where sharing music became a natural extension of listening.
Her sets unfold as slow-burning narratives, drifting through the depths of her mind and the world around her. She invites listeners inward, creating a meditative, immersive, and quietly transportive-an exploration of memory, feeling, and movement that softens the edges of the outside world. Rather than chasing the peak, she creates space to settle into the moment, relax the soul, and let the mind wander somewhere just beyond the familiar.
Spatial Awareness is 9 pm-12 am. Eva J is the DJ. Our door is donation-based with a suggested sliding scale of $10-$20 - no one will be turned away. Donations go towards paying the artists and organizers, and are greatly appreciated if you have the means to contribute!
Note: Spatial Awareness has zero tolerance for any kind of discrimination, including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, ageism, antisemitism, xenophobia, or any inappropriate behavior such as unwanted touching, grouping, or leering. If someone is making you feel uncomfortable, let our staff know, and we will remove the person from the space. Let’s keep each other safe and have a good time!
